Monsters for Company

This pair of bracelets has been made in South Korea in 2013, during the Snake’s year. The creature intrigued me because of the positive symbol it represents in Asia, on the contrary to its bad notoriety in Occident.
I feel great interest in jewels. I find the idea of wearing, so then carrying and transporting something everywhere with ourselves really fascinating. A very intimate, close, particular relationship connects the jewellery and its wearer.
In Asian mythologies, and particularly in Korea, some creatures bring luck to the one who touches them, who runs into them, or even catches sight of them.
The snake and its fantastic derived forms are one of those. What if their strangeness would impart them a greater power?
The project is, by drawing one's inspiration from such kind of creature, to make contemporary jewellery which, by being carried with us, would guard us, as «lucky charm-companions», «peculiar siamese friends » or «monsters for company«.
